Hey everyone who loves beauty! It’s Jennifer Delfgauw, esthetician extraordinaire from Cape Coral, Florida, and I’m about to spill a dirty little secret…. Being an esthetician can be a curse when it comes to getting our own facials done!
I mean…. Who does them, right? It’s like asking a chef to cook their own dinner party. We’re experts at making others look and feel amazing, but when it’s our turn, it’s like, “Who’s going to give me the royal treatment?”
So I recently booked a dermaplaning facial at a local spa (not mine!)
And here’s the thing: I was just thinking I’d treat myself to another spa with some much-needed pampering. Seems like I reaped what I sowed in that decision! Karma’s a real thing, I guess. But we do it for others — why not for ourselves? You’d expect the same level of excellence, right? But…. Needless to say, I was disappointed!
They neglected my top lip, nose, and forehead – like, basic facial territory! And to add insult to injury, they charged more than I do for my own facials. I was thinking to myself, “Uh, did I just get robbed?”
But guess what: a top-quality facial is not just about slapping on some products and calling it a day! That’s just not sufficient — not by my standards. You need skill, precision, and a whole heap of love to do this right.

So when I looked at my own pricing, I was like, “You know what? I’m not charging too much. I’m charging exactly what I’m worth.” After all, if I’m going to do it right, it’s going to take some time, effort, and expertise.
